I grew up in the Mennonite Brethren church; you might say I was born into the church. I became serious about my faith during my high school years. Although I sometimes struggled with my faith, I never doubted that Jesus was my Savior.

 

I felt a call to ministry in high school, but it was confirmed in me while leading worship at Hartland Christian Camp for Youth with my wife. My education road had many twists and turns. Although already serving in various ministries, including camping ministry, youth pastor, family pastor, church planter, and lead pastor, it was a journey of fifteen years, six universities, and one seminary concluding with ordination.

 

I created MB Pastor’s Safety Net for my doctoral thesis and project. Over the past forty years of ministry, I have experienced and observed colleagues who have suffered the stress of ministry. The feelings of isolation, loneliness, and not feeling supported and uncared for are the realities of ministry. It is my belief that offering mentoring options to pastors and teaching congregations that a Pastoral Care Team is critical for our churches today.

 

I want pastors and congregations to remember that fulfilling God's call on their lives is a lifelong journey. It may involve seasons of growth, challenges, and change. Pastors and congregations need to stay open to God's leading, be willing to step out of their comfort zone, and trust that He will guide them every step of the way.

 

In the final chapter of my professional life, I want to dedicate my life to coming alongside pastors and congregations to become all Jesus has for them. This ministry journey has not been mine alone but with my wife, Stacey, who has stood in solidarity with OUR ministry, and I am very thankful for our partnership
